100% Solids High Temperature – High Chemical Resistance Epoxy


DESCRIPTION

Epoxy Systems Product #634 is a 100% solids amine cured epoxy Novolac that is solvent free. Suitable for immersion and non-immersion service particularly in aggressive acid and alkali environments with elevated temperatures. Epoxy Systems Product #634 produces a tough, chemical resistant coating on concrete, iron and non-iron surfaces. As a low viscosity epoxy Novolac it is suitable for hand or spray application.

ADVANTAGES

· Exhibits excellent resistance to strong acids, alkalis, and most industrial chemicals and solvents
· High build yields a durable surface
· Can be applied in occupied facilities
· Can be used in immersion service up to 250 degrees F. with a spike (3 hour) temperature of up to 350 degrees F. with recommended force cure of 200 Degrees F. for 6 hours
· 3 year shelf life at 55-95 degrees F.

 

CONSIDERATIONS

· Concrete substrate must be free of dirt, waxes, curing agents, and other foreign materials.

· Steel surfaces must be free of grease and oils. Abrasive blast, required for steel.

APPLICATION

 

SURFACE PREPARATION

Steel Surfaces should be blasted to an SSPC SP6 commercial gray metal blast. Immersion applications should be blasted to an SSPC SP-5 white metal. Grind flat all burrs, weld seams, round sharp edges. Freshly blasted surface can be primed with this material.

Concrete surfaces should be abrasive clean to remove soft surfaces, paint, sealers, and any other contamination. Prime with Epoxy Systems #634 or #637.

 

INSTALLATION

Mix 2 Parts Resin (A) to 1 part Hardener (B) by volume, adding the B to the A. Mix with a mixing stick or low speed drill with a mixing paddle. Do not thin.

Apply by brush, roller, or airless spray. To brush use medium to stiff bristle brush with a bristle quality that does not pull out into the coating. To roll use a 1/8 to ¼ inch nap roller on concrete. To plural spray use .019 - .021 tip at 2,000-2,500 P.S.I. Heat "A" component to 120 degrees F. Heat "B" to 110 degrees F. To spray by airless spray, use .019-.023 tip at 2,000-2,500 p.s.i with in line heater only (Caution: Short pot life). It is not recommended that you use conventional spray. Apply two coats at 10 mils thick each for dry applications. A third coat for a total thickness of 30 mils recommended for immersion applications.

Keep material between 55 degrees F and 95 degrees F. Maintain a substrate temperature between 45 and 105 degrees F. The difference in temperature between the substrate and the coating should never exceed 10 degrees F

For best chemical and temperature resistance force cure for 12 hours at 150 degrees F, 6 hours at 250 degrees F.

If any product fails to meet this warranty, the liability of ESI will be limited to replacement of any non-conforming material if notice of such non-conformity is given to ESI within the warranty period for the material (as indicated above), or within 1 year of the delivery of materials (whichever is sooner). ESI may in its discretion refund the price received by ESI in lieu of replacing the material. No customer, distributor, or representative of ESI is authorized to change or modify the published specifications of this warranty in any way. No one is authorized to make oral warranties on behalf of ESI. In order to obtain replacement or refund the customer must provide written notice containing full details of the non-conformity. ESI reserves the right to inspect the non-conforming material prior to replacement. Many of our products are made on an individual order basis.   Unless authorized in writing by Epoxy Systems, Inc. in writing before the material is made, there are no returns on items purchased from us, once the order has been processed, and the material made. In the event of authorized returns a restocking charge will be charged in the amount of 30% of the value of the material returned or $150 whichever is greater.  No returns on non-list priced items.  All Returns are for merchandise (store) credit only, no cash or credit card credits.  In the event of a return, buyer is responsible for the cost of shipping and handling in both directions.
