EpoxySystems' System #430 Decorative Multi-Colored Polyurethane Deck Covering This Material requires a minimum product purchase. Please see our Products That Require a Minimum Order Page, or contact Epoxy.com for more information. EpoxySystems’ System #430 is an elastomeric coating system for walking decks, balconies, patios, etc., where an absolutely waterproof coating is crucial, such as above living quarters and any other occupied areas. DESCRIPTION Composition: Liquid-applied, single-component,
moisture-cured, polyurethane deck covering system. System consists of a primer
where necessary, EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #452 base coat, EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT
#416 pigmented, color quartz aggregate and EpoxySystem' Product #416 clear.
EPOXYSYSTEMS’ S Basic Uses: For waterproofing patios, sundecks, stairways, balconies, etc. EPOXYSYSTEMS’ SYSTEM #430 can be used on all decks where a skid-resistant, long-lasting, wear-resistant, water-proof surface is required. It may be used on new decks as well as on old concrete decks which are damaged, or cracked. The system is suitable for exterior as well as interior applications in all kinds of climates. The coating retains its elastomeric properties in below freezing weather as well as in very hot climates. Limitations: All materials shall be delivered to the jobsite in unopened containers clearly marked and labeled. Containers that have been opened must be used up within one or two days since it is a moisture-reactive material. It sets up when exposed to air. All surfaces must be completely free of foreign matter and primed where necessary. Shelf Life: 6 months at 77° F. (25°C) Colors: multi-colored Color Quartz or Color Chips. Sizes: Available in 1 gallon cans, 5-gallon pails and 55-gallon drums. Weighs 10 lbs. (4.5 KG) per gallon. INSTALLATION Surface Preparation: All surfaces which are to receive EPOXYSYSTEMS’ SYSTEM #430 shall be free of contamination such as water, curing compounds, hardeners, bond-breakers, paint, etc. A light broom-finish is recommended for concrete surfaces. It is desirable to water cure concrete in lieu of curing compounds. Contaminants should be removed by sandblasting or other mechanical methods. If etching is used, allow adequate time for surface to dry, and abrasive clean any concrete that has been damaged by the acid etching. Except for non-moving shrinkage cracks, all other cracks and joints must be sealed with EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #910, a single-component, moisture-cured sealant manufactured by EPOXY SYSTEMS, INC. OF Florida and Vermont. All surfaces, where necessary, must be primed prior to application of the coating system at a rate of 300-350 square feet per gallon (7.3-8.6 m2/liter), except for exterior grade plywood in good condition. All seams between plywood sheets and those between metal flashing and the plywood deck must be reinforced by imbedding a 4-inch (10 cm) wide strip of glass cloth tape in wet EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #452, which is brushed evenly over the seam in a width of about 5 inches (12.7 cm) and a thickness of about 20 mils wet (0.5 mm). The application of EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #452 can subsequently be made immediately over the entire area, including the taped areas. Application: EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #452 shall be applied to the primed concrete or plywood at a rate of 60 square feet per gallon (1.47 m2/liter) resulting in a dry film thickness of 25 mils (.6 mm). After a 24-hour cure, another coat of EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #452 is applied at the same 25 mil (.6 mm) coverage for a total dry thickness of 50 mils (1.27 mm). EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #452 Non-Gassing may be substituted for EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #452 and applied in one application. Application must be made uniformly to avoid thin spots and care must be taken to avoid pinholes and repair them should they occur. Coverage to obtain 50 mils is 30 sq. ft. / gallon (1.27mm is .74 m2 / liter). EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #454 Non-Gassing may be accelerated to cure in just a few hours on the jobsite. Following a 24 hour cure, apply EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #416 pigmented, at a rate of 115 square feet per gallon (2.8 m2 / liter). Broadcast the desired solid colored quartz or a mixture of various colors into the wet coating, to refusal. After an overnight cure, sweep or blow off all the loose aggregate and apply another coat of EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #416 clear at a coverage of 100 square feet per gallon (2.5 m2/liter). Allow 48 hours cure time before allowing any traffic on the finished system. MAINTENANCE If EPOXYSYSTEMS’ SYSTEM #430 is damaged, it can be repaired by cleaning the surface with M.E.K. and recoating it with EPOXYSYSTEMS’ SYSTEM #430 system. TECHNICAL DATA
