PRODUCT #409 when applied to concrete or other surfaces, is resilient and accommodates movement in concrete substrates. PRODUCT #409 is used as a traffic bearing membrane or non-skid coating that retains color and physical properties when exposed to harsh UV conditions.ADVANTAGES
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
SURFACE PREPARATION On Steel - Prepare in accordance with Steel Structures Painting Council Surface. Preparation SSPC-SP6 metal blast cleaning. All work blasted should be coated the same day. Apply PRODUCT #1200 Zinc Rich Primer to prime steel. Use in accordance with the PRODUCT #1200 Zinc Rich Primer data sheet. Allow to cure a minimum of 2 hours and a maximum of 48 hours before applying membrane. On Concrete: Concrete surfaces should be water or abrasive blasted to remove dirt, curing compounds, existing coatings or laitance to provide a clean sound bonding surface. If water blasted, surface should dry for 24 hours before placing coating. Prime surface with PRODUCT #844 primer. This is a water based treatment mix with tap water and apply immediately. MIXING Stir B Component before combining with A Component. Mix material to the proper ratio, 4 A to 1B with a mixing paddle and slow speed drill for a minimum of 2 minutes until thoroughly mixed. Avoid entrapping air while mixing. APPLICATION Pedestrian Grade - Recommended DFT of system 27.0 to 34.0 mils DFT. Primer - One Coat Product #844 at 3.0 to 4.0 mils WFT to achieve 3.0 to 4.0 mils DFT. Intermediate - One Coat Product #409 at 12.0 to 15.0 mils WFT to achieve 12.0 to 15.0 mils DFT. Finish - One Coat Product #409 at 12.0 to 15.0 mils WFT to achieve 12.0 to 15.0 mils DFT. The use of rounded silica sand is recommended to produce an anti-slip or non-skid finish. Traffic Grade - Recommended DFT of system 53.0 to 64.0 mils DFT. Primer - One Coat Product#844 at 3.0 to 4.0 mils WFT to achieve 3.0 to 4.0 mils DFT. (lightly seed while wet with a rounded 16 / 30 silica) Intermediate - One coat Product #409 at 25.0 to 30.0 mils WFT to achieve 25.0 to 30.0 mils DFT. (broadcast while wet with a rounded 20 / 40 silica at a rate of 1/4 to 1/2 pound per square foot) Finish - One coat Product #409 at 25.0 to 30.0 mils WFT to achieve 25.0 to 30.0 mils DFT. Apply first coat of PRODUCT #409 by roller or brush at a rate of 80 sq. ft. per gallon. Film thickness approximately 20 mils wet and dry. Wait a minimum of 8 hours or a maximum of 5 days before applying second coat of PRODUCT #409. Apply second coat of PRODUCT #409 at a rate of 80 sq. ft. per gallon. For a non skid surface broadcast Product # 75 into the second coat at a rate of ½ pound per sq. ft. CLEAN UP: Wash equipment and tools with MEK, lacquer thinner, or acetone (immediately after use or before coating cures.) LIMITATIONS: Thinning may result in loss of adhesion of cured material and promote rapid deterioration protective properties. Do not apply PRODUCT #409 on wet surfaces or below 50°F. Lower temperatures will prolong curing considerably. PACKAGING: 5 gallon Unit STORAGE: PRODUCT #409 should be stored in a dry area between 65°F and 90°F. CAUTION: Contains organic isocyanates. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Do not ingest. Keep away from foodstuffs and wash thoroughly before smoking or eating. Should skin contact occur, wash skin well with soap and water. Should eye contact occur, flush thoroughly for at least 15 minutes with water. Get medical attention.
